China has become one of the major countries in tire production and consumption, with strong domestic demand, the biggest tire production capacity in the world, full range of products and very high rate of localized material supply. However, compared with the tire powers, there is still improvement space for China’s tire industry. For example, most products are low-tech and low value-added, the tire production only has low degree of automation, and tire companies are still under development and usually don’t have strong R&D capability. Therefore, the key development needs of China’s tire industry are overall technological level, high value-added products, and the emergence of large and modern tire enterprise groups.

This paper studied the main technical contents of European Union (EU) tyre rolling noise regulations. The EU tyre rolling noise grading system, labeling, limit values and other technical requirements were elucidated. The mechanism, infl uencing factors and test method of tire rolling noise were analyzed. In response to EU technical barriers, our own technical advanced tyre proving ground should be built, meanwhile, tyre noise performance test and analysis should be carried out, which would improve the tyre design and production process and also improve the tyre product performance to promote China’s tyre products export.

Acting as sensors, passive radio frequency identification devices (RFID) tags can avoid sensor nodes bulky and realize battery-powered. So, ultra high frequency (UHF) passive RFID tags embedded in tires have a deep impact on tire life cycle management and tire monitoring,and have been used widely in the USA and the European Union. However, the transmission range is one of the hardest challenges in UHF passive RFID embedded in tires, because the rubber makes it harder to read the tag. The main difference between the common RFID and RFID embedded in tires is the communication medium, which attenuates RF power from the reader in RFID embedded in tires. To improve the transmission range and reliability of RFID embedded in tires, it is of great concern to study power transmission of wave propagation for UHF passive embedded RFID in tires, because the tags do not contain any battery and rely on the electromagnetic field for both power and communication. In 2013, China’s tire industry was featured by volume increase and price drop. The market situation was good and the industry concentration of TBR tire was relatively high. In the imported tires in the USA, 30%of car tires and light truck tires (51.2 million) and 65%of medium/heavy truck tire (6.3 million) were imported from China. The USA tire market demand is still expected to grow in 2014. In order to improve the product competitiveness, China’s tire industry should increase the degree of concentration, and the tire enterprises have to build a brand marketing strategy, expand overseas production capacity, speed up product upgrading and strengthen R&D.

In considering of geometric nonlinearity of tire deformation, nonlinear of tire contact with the ground, inhomogeneity of tire material and anisotropy of rubber matrix composites, outline structure of tire cross-section was designed by software AutoCAD and 34×10.75-16 aircraft tire structure finite element model was established via ABAQUS. The corresponding load and deformation under different inflation pressure was attained after the simulation calculation of ABAQUS/ATNDARD. The simulation results were compared with experimental values. The results showed that the established finite element model could simulate the mechanical behaviors of this type of aircraft tire which provides a reference for tire performance design.

The tyre and pavement features have a great influence on the vehicle braking stability. Based on the theo-ry of pavement fracture and the GW contact theory, the real contact area model and the viscoelastic energy loss of tyre-pavement are simplified. An improved sliding friction factor model is proposed for analyzing the impact of the tyre and pavement feature on the sliding friction factor;through the introduction of the nonlinear Fiala tyre model, the impact caused by tyre and pavement to the tyre force are considered. A new vehicle model which considers the dynamic friction characteristic of tyre has been proposed on basis of the simplification of the 15 DOF vehicle model. PC-Crash is applied for verifying the vehicle model and Matlab is used to carry out simulation analysis for the mod-el. This paper introduces the tire standards and regulations in China. Currently there are 90 national standards and 15 industry standards. The standards and regulations on tire safety and environmental protection are under development. The tire testing standards need to be improved and a comprehensive performance evaluation system for tires will be established in the near future. China will participate more and lead the development of international standards. We will also focus on the upgrade of the standard information service and sharing of information resources.
