It discusses the important theoretical value of civilians’educational thinking of Yan Ynagchu to boost the educational development of ethnic area, and it practically studies the combination of Yan’s thinking and the education of ethnic area. The study of the educational reformation and development of ethnic area is closely related to the civilians’education of Yan. In the 1930s, China was faced with the crisis of the decline in rural. Yan Yangchu and Tai Shuangqiu are the representa-tives of who had put forward their own rural education thought. The two persons put forward the civilian education thought and the peo-ple’s livelihood education thought respectively, and their educational thoughts had different effect on the society at that time. Though the two educational thoughts have many differences and similarities, they have some certain reference significance to resolve the problem of today’s rural education in China.

In order to realize the aim of saving country by education as well as solving the problems of Chinese people’s ignorances caused by the shortage of education, and civilian education, mass education are widely raised in the first half of the twentieth Century. Yan and Tai are the outstanding representatives. Their educational thoughts have distinct people-oriented characteristics, and have important influences on the social development for a long time. Through a comparative study on the origin of the education thoughts, education aim, object, content, method, and educational practice, this paper has a more comprehensive understanding of their educational ideas. It can benefit from their education wisdom, which will improve our current education, especially the rural education to a great degree.
